Story Board of Blair Witch Project
We have made a storyboard by breaking down the trailer this is important because during the filming process we need to know the exact timings, which scene follows on from which. It also includes a short explanation of what each scene contains which helps when filming as well as editing.
Blair Witch Project Trailer
I have chosen to do this trailer because due to limited resources we had to chose a trailer from a British film company because we are then able to copy it as close as possible. The scenes are also shot and snappy and we are able to re-create these without special effects and a high budget. The trailer is also very effective and the use of screams, bangs and fades in from black show creates dramatic tension. The locations being a woods, home and restaurant are also easily accessible.
Top 5 Trailers (no.5)
The trailer is a chick flick and would appeal to females more than men. The trailer starts with a voice over about two best friends which any girl can compare too. The establishing shots of the rooms show pretty and magical content - palace like with lots of flowers and gold colours. The trailer is also broken up with writing reinforcing the relationship between the two girls. The clips reveal some of the story such as the men asking them to propose, when they were little and when they are searching for dresses, and partying at another venue. The music is lively and upbeat giving a happy vibe and makes the memories seem magical. This is then contrasted against a more slow beat song shows the awkwardness between the two brides. They then show clips of how they get revenge on each other which is humorous such as blue hair, spray tanned, and an embarrassing dvd projected in front of all the wedding guests. The music then gets louder and quicker as the brides attack each other down the aisle making you want to watch to see what happens and which wedding goes ahead. The film also has Anne Hathaway in it who is in many chick flicks which is another reason why you want to see it. The dramatic tension is increased throughout and because the audience can relate to it and there are many cliff hangers you want answers. The trailer is really effective because the first half juxtaposing the first half with the second through the happy scenes and upbeat music to the sadder more dramatic music.
Top 5 Trailers (no.4)
The trailer straight away captures the target audience of females who love to shop by showing expensive shops with lots of pretty clothes. The trailer also contains a voice over asking the audience questions making you think and the answer is yes making you want to go and watch it. The trailer then includes a Rihanna song and establishing shots of New York which makes it seem magical. When she refers to the credit cards as "magic cards" and they get declined it is humorous, there is more humor as she fights with a women for Gucci boots, and sharpens a pencil int he middle of an important meeting. There are rapid cuts between clips so that the audience get a taster however want to see the movie because they don't answer any questions. The clips pause with a white flash like a camera flashing at an event to reinforce the girly trailer. There is also writing clips where the writing flashes horizontally making it seem magical once again. The writing also tells the audience that it based on boots, and gives an insight to what the main character is trying to prove. There is more humor as the clips show her hip-hop dancing, pretending to speak Finnish, and trying to blow dry the frozen credit cards. Overall the use of humor, and the way it captures the target audience by asking rhetorical questions and lots of magical shots such as the aerial shot of the store reinforces its genre.
